Up until about 2005, every other day (and for about an hour or two straight on new stock-Tuesdays) I would crawl the latest releases at DanceRecords.com looking for the freshest vinyl promos and new house releases. Eventually the releases started coming out slower as the vinyl market declined, and house kind of went a direction that I didn’t really enjoy too much. Being a young house music producer with a few contacts within the industry, I also recieved a lot of promos, which in time built up a pretty impressive database of mostly house music.
I remember diving head first into house music in 2000, and disco was creeping back into the limelight as “Discovery” by you-know-who lurked in the background. After it was released, disco/filter went crazy and there was a massive influx of new house producers, labels, and music in general. I’ve compiled a VERY biased list of my 25 favorite house songs, mostly from that era - yes, I know there are acid house classics and others that you might think are deserving of being on this list, but to me the best things in house music were happening from 1998 to 2004. I’ve neglected the bonafide hits - the “Around the World”-esque songs that everyone knows - these are a little deeper than that.
Stay tuned!
The new “Heart on your Sleeve” shirts are coming in the next few days. They were printed on AA 2001 t-shirts, and will retail for $25.
